Meet Glastonbury's New 'Highly Regarded' Police Officer

Amber Schippani, the daughter of two first responders and a member of the National Guard, has joined the Glastonbury Police Department.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury's newest police officer, a member of the U.S. National Guard, has been sworn in to the department.

Officer Amber Schippani officially joined the force on Monday morning during a swearing-in ceremony attended by her family, friends and new coworkers.

Schippani is a C130 Aircraft Mechanic with the United States Air National Guard, and the department said on Facebook that she "comes to GPD highly regarded."

And she's not the first in her family to be a first responder: Her father, Frank, has been a police officer in Connecticut for over three decades; and her mother, Tracey, has worked in emergency medical services as well.

"We are very happy and fortunate to have her!" officers wrote on Facebook. "Welcome to Glastonbury, Officer Schippani #465. BEST OF LUCK!"
