In Memoriam: Roney Arcila

The Glastonbury resident passed away Feb. 21 at the age of 68.

Roney Arcila, 68, of Glastonbury, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after an illness which he faced with great courage and strength of mind.

He was born in Armenia Colombia, on March 20, 1947, to the late Luis and Nohemi Arcila.

Roney is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Yolanda Molina, and their two daughters: Elizabeth Arcila, her husband Jacinto Heredia and their daughter Michelle; Angie Arcila, her husband Andres Franco and their daughter Ashley. He is also survived by his beloved sisters and brother, many nieces and nephews.

Roney was a Sergeant and a veteran of the Colombian military, a career he was extremely proud of. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hartford.

Roney’s greatest focus was on being a nurturing and loving father, grandfather and husband. His grandchildren were his joy and pride. Roney loved to dance salsa and was the life of the party, often times you would find him telling jokes or showing off his dancing moves at social gatherings. Roney was also a talented chess player.

Funeral service will be Thursday February 25, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church; 49 Winthrop St., Hartford. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury.

Relatives and friends may call at the D’ Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, on Wednesday February 24, from 2 to 5 p.m.
