Mosquito Testing Shows Nearly 30 West Nile Cases In Glastonbury
Glastonbury has the second most West Nile Virus cases of those Connecticut towns being tested.
GLASTONBURY, CT — The latest mosquito testing in Glastonbury shows 28 West Nile Virus carriers so far this warm weather season. That's second in Connecticut, but no new ones have emerged this week.
According to the latest The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station mosquito trapping and testing cumulative results, released on Tuesday, 7,207 of the insects have been collected so far from the Tryon Street area in Glastonbury. A total of 17 mosquitos tested positive for West Nile on Aug. 29 and another 11 did so on Sept. 7.
The next closest in the area is Wethersfield at 22 West Nile positive tests. Wethersfield and Glastonbury are by far the tops in north central Connecticut.

Atop the list is Stamford's 27 over three testing locations.
The total number of mosquitoes tested to date in the state is 313,714.

The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is responsible for weekly trapping, identifying and testing mosquitoes for diseases. Positive findings are reported to local health departments and published to the CAES website at http://www.ct.gov/caes/mosquitotesting.
