Mosquitos Trapped In Glastonbury Test Positive For West Nile Virus
Positive West Nile results are being identified in communities throughout the state, including Glastonbury.
GLASTONBURY, CT — Officials at the Glastonbury Heath Department Wednesday said they have informed that 16 mosquitoes trapped in the Tryon Street area testing station have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The testing was on Aug. 29, officials said.
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is responsible for weekly trapping, identifying, and testing mosquitoes for encephalitis viruses. Positive findings are reported to local health departments and published to the CAES website at http://www.ct.gov/caes/mosquitotesting.

Positive results are being identified in various communities throughout the state, including Willington and Mansfield.
Local health officials said, "Community members are encouraged to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites, particularly during dawn/dusk hours. Such actions include wearing loose, long-sleeved shirts and pants when outdoors, avoiding perfumes and scented products, eliminating standing water on your property, and staying indoors when mosquitoes are most active."
