Restoring Controversial Mascot On The Docket In Glastonbury

A Board of Education public hearing will be held on whether the town should restore the Tomahawk name and logo for high school sports teams.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on a proposal to restore the use of the Tomahawks name and logo for Glastonbury high school's sports teams, according to The Journal-Inquirer. The meeting will be held virtually Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

Supporters of the proposal have garnered 379 petition signatures.

The board voted in August 2020 by a count of 7-1 to end the use of the Tomahawks name in consideration of Native American groups.
