Greenwich Avenue Restaurant Closes, New Venture Announced

The owners announced the restaurant is "entering a new era."

GREENWICH, CT — One of Greenwich Avenue's prominent restaurants is closing, but a new venture has already been announced.

South Bay, located at 403 Greenwich Ave. and owned by JS Restaurant Group, announced recently on Facebook that it was closing for renovations and "entering a new era."

"With intention and excitement, we are proud to share that our space is being thoughtfully transformed into Blu Olive," the Facebook post said. "This evolution brings carefully curated renovations and a renewed vision, while honoring the essence that has always defined us: elevated flavors, memorable experiences, and a community we deeply value."

South Bay's menu featured "Mediterranean inspired, elegant and savory dishes, all created using fresh, locally sourced ingredients," according to the eatery's website.

The restaurant opened in Greenwich in 2019 following the closure of Sundown Saloon. South Bay still has locations in Fairfield and New Haven.

The owners did not provide any details on Blu Olive in their announcement. Patch has reached out for more information, but it appears the concept will also consist of Mediterranean fare.

The brand's instagram page, a continuation of South Bay's account, notes in its bio line that Blu Olive is a "prestige Mediterranean dining experience featuring beautifully plated dishes of fresh ingredients & sparkling ambiance."

There is another Blu Olive location in Westport which opened last fall.

The menu features a Mediterranean influence with a raw bar, salads, antipasto, pizza, pasta dishes, and entrees ranging from braised beef short ribs to roasted lemon chicken. There are also dessert and cocktail menus.

It's unclear when Blu Olive Greenwich will open.
