1 Killed, 2 Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash: Groton Police
A 5-year-old child was among the injured in the crash, police said.

GROTON, CT — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning, police said.
At 10:18 a.m. police said they responded to a two-car crash in the area of 149 Buddington Road between Poquonnock Road and Drozdyk Drive.
Police said they found a Volkswagen Jetta and Jeep Cherokee with heavy front-end damage, both vehicles were in the roadway.

The sole occupant of the Jetta was found not to be conscious or alert, police said. First responders provided medical care, but the driver was pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said.
The driver of the Jeep and her 5-year-old daughter were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
"The initial investigation into the accident showed the operator of the Volkswagen Jetta was traveling northbound on Buddington Road when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and struck the Jeep Cherokee, which was traveling southbound," police said in a news release. "The operator of the Jeep Cherokee attempted to maneuver to the right to avoid the crash but was unable to do so."
