• Significant Street Reconstruction Project Coming To Noank (patch.com) — Groton residents, especially those in Noank, are invited to weigh in on detailed plans to fully reconstruct Main Street and nearby roads at a Jan. 6 public hearing at the Town Hall Annex. The project would rebuild the roadway, standardize travel lanes and parking, replace sidewalks with concrete and granite curbing, and slightly adjust the number of on-street parking spaces.
   

• Fitch's Waters finishes with a dynamic 26 points in season-opening win over NFA (theday.com) — Groton hoops fans just saw a breakout performance from Fitch junior guard Synaa Waters, who poured in 26 points with 11 rebounds in a season-opening win over Norwich Free Academy. With three freshmen in the starting lineup, Waters and fellow junior Leilani McCoy are emerging as leaders for a young Falcons squad aiming to make noise in the ECC this winter.
