Car Strikes Wendy's, Breaks Gas Line In Groton: Police

A car struck a Wendy's restaurant in Groton on Thursday morning causing a gas line leading to the building to break loose.

GROTON, CT — A car struck a Wendy's restaurant in Groton on Thursday morning causing a gas line leading to the building to break loose, according to a statement from police. Police were dispatched to the accident at 689 Long Hill Road at about 11:30 a.m.

When police arrived, they learned that the vehicle involved in the accident had left. Police established a perimeter around the building and closed Long Hill Road to traffic from

the intersections of Meridian Street Extension and Drozdyk Drive.

Fire personnel found and secured the gas line's shut-off valve to the Wendy's building.

Long Hill Road has been reopened to traffic. The Wendy's remained closed.

Police are attempting to find the driver involved in the crash. No injuries were reported.
