Company Fined For Oversized Truck On I-95 In Groton: State Police
A company is facing a five-figure fine for dispatching a truck with a load more than 16,000 lbs. over weight, according to state police.
GROTON, CT — A trucking company is facing an $11,310 fine for violating rules on oversized loads, according to state police. A member of the state police's Traffic Services Unit was conducting commercial motor vehicle enforcement on I-95 in the Groton area Thursday morning and observed an oversized load crossing the Gold Star Bridge.
The trooper stopped the truck and used portable scales to determine that the load's weight was approximately 96,600 lbs., a total of 16,600 lbs. over the allowable weight.
The company responsible for the safety of the load was issued an infraction for $11,310.00.

State police said in a statement: "As a reminder, commercial operators transporting oversized loads should always be aware of size and weight restrictions as members of our Traffic Services Unit actively patrol state roadways, monitoring for the unsafe operation of both passenger and commercial vehicles."
