GROTON, CT — City of Groton firefighters had an "eventful day" Tuesday, which included delivering a healthy baby boy for a local resident.

Firefighters Keith Nichols and Tim Gardner responded to the call at a Groton home at about 5:30 p.m. The location was not disclosed for privacy reasons, a fire official said.

The pair was at the home for about half an hour for the delivery of the baby and caring for the boy after delivery, the fire official said. The mother and child were then transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.
