Noank Readies Boats For The Holiday Weekend (With Video)

"Hopefully, the weekend will be decent"

Despite the gloomy weather, Noank Shipyard was busy Monday getting boats ready for Memorial Day Weekend, pulling them out of storage and launching them in the water.

“This is about as miserable a spring as we’ve had in many, many years,” said Daniel Burns, general manager of Noank Shipyard.

The shipyard stores about 300 boats at the yard on Pearl Street, and started months ago waxing and buffing the hulls, painting the bottoms and taking systems like engines out of storage.

“Theoretically, it’s the beginning of the season, and everybody wants their boats in the water,” Burns said.

Glen Piscatelli, of Mystic, helped ready the 33-foot “First Light” for launch.
