Town Of Groton To Host 4th Of July Parade

The town has announced road closures coming up for the 4th of July Parade.

GROTON, CT — The Town of Groton will be holding their Annual 4th of July Parade on Thursday, July 4th, 2024. To ensure the safety and security of parade participants and spectators, the Town of Groton Police Department announces a Traffic Alert and Road Closures occurring Thursday, July 4th, 2024 between 9:50 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., in the area of Fort Hill Road, (Poquonnock Bridge area of Route 1), Poquonnock Road, and Long Hill Road.

The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. from the Fort Hill Road and Ring Drive sections of Route 1, and proceeds west on Route 1, to the Groton Shopping Plaza off Long Hill Road at Drozdyk Drive.

Participating vehicles and floats will stage at Poquonnock Plains Park prior to the start of the parade. Midway Oval residents can expect traffic congestion on and around Central Avenue, Vergennes Court, Newtown Road (Rt 117), and Depot Rd. We encourage residents to be aware of this situation and plan accordingly.

The Town of Groton Police Department wants to remind everyone that this is a family-oriented parade. We would like to ask for your continued support in ensuring we provide a safe and fun environment for all parade participants and spectators.
