Transit District Expands Service In Southeastern CT
The transit district is adding its HOP Microtransit Service in Groton, Stonington, and Waterford.
The Southeast Area Transit District is expanding its HOP Microtransit Service to Groton, Stonington, and Waterford.
The move is intended to make "local travel more accessible, convenient, and connected for residents and workers across Southeastern Connecticut," according to a Facebook post from the Town of Groton.
HOP Microtransit provides point-to-point rides within specific service zones. Riders can book trips to and from local destinations within each zone, which the transit district said offers greater flexibility than traditional bus service.

Expanding into Groton, Stonington, and Waterford improves access to jobs, schools, shopping centers, and medical appointments for riders throughout the region," according to the statement.
The Stonington HOP will provide riders with access to downtown Mystic, Olde Mistick Village, Mystic Aquarium, Stonington High School, and local senior and community centers.
