Work Begins For National Retailer Space, Restaurant Coming To Groton Shopping Plaza
Major changes are in the works for a Groton shopping plaza, with a national retailer "coming soon."

GROTON, CT — Work is underway on a new TJ Maxx and a restaurant is planning to open at the Groton shopping plaza as well, according to The Connecticut Scoop
The retailer will occupy the former Ocean State Job Lot space at Groton Shoppers Mart at 925 Poquonnock Road. TJ Maxx used to occupy the same space in the early 2000s.
In February, a deal was announced to bring the discount clothing retailer to the 24,000-square-foot space. It's anticipated that TJ Maxx's other Groton store on Long Hill Road will close when the new store opens.

The former Groton Cinemas space is undergoing demolition. No formal plans have been announced but the spot is being marketed as a potential restaurant.
At a long-vacant space in the plaza, Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant Phantasia will be moving in, located next to Chester's BBQ, according to The Connecticut Scoop. No opening date has been announced.

The plaza is anchored by Big Y and has a freestanding CVS. There are currently 17 tenants at the plaza and new ownership is "investing in large capital improvement plan in 2025," according to a real estate listing for the plaza.
This includes facade improvements, parking lot resurfacing, and signage upgrades. Two spaces at the plaza are available to lease, and the TJ Maxx is listed as "coming soon."
