The East Hartford Animal Control Department is investigating the incident, with a $5,000 reward available for information on the case.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — East Hartford's animal control department is investigating a ghastly case of animal abuse in which a pregnant French bulldog was abandoned and left to die along with her six babies.

According to Winsted-based Desmond's Army Animal Law Advocates, a nonprofit animal rights organization, the group has a $5,000 reward for information regarding the incident.

Desmond's Army said the pregnant, brindle bulldog was found Dec. 19 at an East Hartford condominium complex at 8 Turtle Creek Lane.

"Sadly, mother and babies did not survive," wrote Desmond's via its Facebook page.

"She was pregnant and sadly passed away a short time after arriving at our veterinarian’s office. Her puppies had already passed away prior to her being found. She appears to have been in labor for quite some time unable to deliver her puppies without medical assistance."
