After Delay, Popular Cookie Chain Set To Open Hartford Shop

HARTFORD, CT — A little more than two months later than planned, a popular cookie chain will officially open its first-ever Hartford location this weekend.

A ribbon-cutting for Insomnia Cookies, 247 Asylum St., Hartford, is slated for Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at the location.

Expected to appear at the event is Insomnia District Manager Nancy Goedhart and Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam.

Then, on Saturday, March 8, Insomnia will have a grand opening celebration from noon to 3 a.m. Sunday.

Insomnia Cookies, according to the company, is "known for serving warm cookies all day and late into the night."

Insomnia was slated to open back on Jan. 4, but that opening was delayed until this week.

The cookie bakery is known for fresh-baked cookies that are also delivered.

It is also known for being open late into the night and early morning, making it a popular option for nighttime revelers craving cookies or those up late working/studying.

Insomnia's treats are especially popular on college campuses, with bakeries near Yale University and the University of Connecticut, the other two Connecticut sites.

In Hartford, which boasts a sizable college student population in and of itself, Insomnia is looking to appeal to downtown visitors and residents alike as well.

It will become the 318th location nationwide.

The store’s hours following the grand opening are: Sunday: Noon to 1 AM; Monday to Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Thursday to Friday: 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.; and Saturday: noon to 3 a.m.
