Hartford Announces Holiday Openings/Closings

HARTFORD, CT — 'Tis the season to kick back, relax, and enjoy the holiday season.

And with that come closed schools, closed municipal offices, and general changes in operations hours this time of year.

To that end, Hartford has announced its openings/closings schedule for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. They include:

• Hartford City Hall and other city offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 (New Year's Day).

• All Hartford Public Library branches will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and Thursday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day).

• All Hartford Public Library branches will be closed at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve) and close on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 (New Year's Day).

•Hartford Public Schools will have early dismissal on Tuesday, Dec. 23, with winter recess commencing on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and continuing through Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 (Three Kings Day). Classes resume on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
