Another Wave Of Layoffs Announced At Hartford Insurer
This is the fifth time since last fall that the company has announced job cuts tied to its Hartford location.
HARTFORD, CT — For the fifth time since last fall, a major player in Hartford's insurance industry has announced a new wave of layoffs.
CVS Health, the corporate operator of Hartford-based Aetna, sent a notice on Tuesday, Feb. 4, to the state Department of Labor and the City of Hartford that more layoffs were assigned to Aetna's 151 Farmington Ave. site.
According to the notice, 22 employees are targeted for termination, with the layoffs slated for June 7.

Like prior layoffs leading up to the end of last year, many of the 22 workers are remote employees who report to the Hartford office and are not necessarily stationed there.
A total of nine of the 11 targeted for pink slips live out-of-state.

This latest announcement comes after CVS announced the layoffs of 416 employees reporting to Hartford in October, an additional 42 workers in November, 164 workers in December, and 13 workers in January.
Those layoffs, CVS has said, are part of a massive CVS plan to trim $2 billion from company expenses, a byproduct of declining, in-store sales nationally.
