Celebrate! Prison Arts 2025: A Capitol Tribute to a Connecticut Jewel

Honoring Creativity, Dignity, and 150 Years of Restorative Justice

As part of its 150th anniversary, Community Partners in Action (CPA) invites the public to Celebrate! Prison Arts 2025—an inspiring evening event at the Connecticut State Capitol on Monday, June 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Hall of Flags.

This moving celebration, running now through June 16, showcases original artwork created by individuals who are currently or formerly incarcerated, offering a window into the resilience, creativity, and humanity of those impacted by the justice system. Guests will hear powerful readings of open letters written by incarcerated artists, enjoy refreshments by The Pond House Café, and experience two compelling exhibitions:

  • “Letters from Prison” – featuring decorated envelopes and personal letters written by artists currently serving time, a CPA tradition since 1995.
  • “Give Me Life” – highlighting artwork from women at York Correctional Institution, previewing a larger exhibition at Fairfield University this fall.

Speakers will include CPA Executive Director Beth Hines, Prison Arts Program Manager Jeffrey Greene, alumni artists and family members, CPA Board Members and staff.
