Even More Layoffs Announced At Hartford-Based Insurer
For the fourth time since last fall, CVS Health-operated Aetna is issuing pink slips to employees reporting to the Hartford office.
HARTFORD, CT — Once again, a Hartford-based insurer is announcing more layoffs to staff assigned to a local operation.
CVS Health, the corporate operator of Hartford-based Aetna, sent a notice on Jan. 17 to the state Department of Labor and the City of Hartford that more layoffs were assigned to Aetna's 151 Farmington Ave. site.
According to the notice, 13 employees are targeted for termination between March 8-22.

Like prior layoffs leading up to the end of last year, many of the 13 workers are remote employees who report to the Hartford office and are not necessarily stationed there.
A total of nine of the 13 targeted for pink slips live out-of-state.

This latest announcement comes after CVS announced the layoff of 416 employees reporting to Hartford in October, an additional 42 workers in November, and 164 workers in December.
The latter layoffs were announced just a few days before Christmas.
Those layoffs, CVS has said, are part of a massive CVS plan to trim $2 billion from company expenses, a byproduct of declining, in-store sales nationally.
