Fallen Hartford PD Detective To Be Remembered At Memorial Service

The public is invited to attend the event, which will be on Saturday, Sept. 6, in memory of a beloved law enforcer killed in 2023.

HARTFORD, CT — The Hartford Police Department, Saturday, Sept. 6, is hosting a special memorial service to honor the memory of one of their own who was killed in the line of duty.

The community is invited to join the HPD for the second annual service honoring Det. Robert “Bobby” Garten, who died in the line of duty on Sept. 6, 2023.

It will take place on the second anniversary of his death at 7 p.m. at 253 High St., Hartford.

The eight-year police veteran was a passenger in a police cruiser that collided with a fleeing vehicle from a separate call on Sept. 6, 2023.

He was posthumously promoted to detective shortly after his death.

The ceremony will include remarks from department leadership and a moment of silence.
