Hartford's Dem Mayoral Primary: What You Need To Know
Hartford Democrats go to the polls Tuesday, Sept. 12, in a three-way race to be the party's mayoral candidate in November.
HARTFORD, CT — In a city that hasn't had a GOP mayor since 1971, Tuesday's Democratic primary for mayor, likely, is a de facto mayoral election in Hartford.
Always heavily blue, Hartford voters who are registered Democrats have three options in a wide open race on Tuesday.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at city poll sites on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The winner will face off in an election campaign against Republican Mike McGarry, who told CT Insider recently that he doesn't expect to win in November, but is running to provide an alternative candidate to Democrats.

• Party-endorsed hopeful Arunan Arulampalam, who has also been endorsed by incumbent Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, who is not seeking another term.
• Eric D. Coleman, who secured enough votes at the nominating convention over the summer to be eligible for a primary challenge.
• State Sen. John W. Fonfara, D-Hartford, who is looking toward a new elected office in Hartford after also securing primary eligibility.
