Hartford Native Surprisingly Wins Big Lottery Prize

HARTFORD, CT - After purchasing a few lottery tickets with $20 in spare change, Jerry Cooney of Hartford scratched off the barcodes and asked the retailer to check for winners.

When his last ticket was scanned, Jerry distinctly heard the terminal say, congratulations!

"I'm thinking I won $10, maybe $20, but he stuck his hand out and shook my hand," Cooney said.

Then he handed me the ticket with the $10,000 (claim receipt). I've never won anything this big before!"

Jerry bought his "iHeart Radio Concert Cash" top prize-winning ticket at Manousos Wine & Liquors in Wethersfield.

Of the 4 top prizes in the game, one more remains to be claimed.
