Input Sought On Regional Development Plan For Greater Hartford

Want a say in how the region develops economically for the short- and long-term future of the Greater Hartford region?

Well, your chance is Thursday, July 27.

That's because the public is invited to comment on the Capital Region Council of Government's (CROG) Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy prior to its formal adoption.

While reports of this ilk are usually full of development jargon that most folks probably find cumbersome to navigate, the reality is this plan is, simply, a guide for the region's future.

It will, once finalized, be a tool for municipal leaders to use as they navigate their respective municipalities' paths forward.

"The document lays out a broad strategy for the region’s economy and is a five-year plan identifying regional economic development goals, projects and strategies to help advance and accelerate inclusive economic growth for the Capitol Region," wrote the Town of West Hartford in promoting a virtual forum slated for Thursday, July 27.

Prior to formal adoption by the CRCOG Policy Board, public input on the plan is actually sought from now through Aug. 31. A virtual public presentation will be held on Thursday July 27 at noon.

The CROG was created in 2005 and its role is to support "the broad range of planning and direct service activities" for 38 member towns in the Greater Hartford region.

Member towns served by CROG include: Avon, Berlin, Canton, Farmington, Hartford, West Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Southington and Wethersfield — among other towns.
