Major Pharmacy Chain To Close 2 Stores In Hartford
The closures will reduce the amount of CVS pharmacies in the city from five to three.

HARTFORD, CT — Customers of two Hartford CVS pharmacies will have to go elsewhere with their prescriptions as the company confirmed Monday that two of the city's five stores will close.
According to a CVS spokesperson Monday, the CVS pharmacy at 690 Wethersfield Ave. will close for good Feb. 21, while the one at 777 Main St. will close on March 11.
CVS officials said prescriptions at the Wethersfield Avenue store will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 908/910 Maple Ave., Hartford, "to ensure patients have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care."

Meanwhile, officials said, prescriptions from the Main Street store will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 150 Washington St., Hartford.
"Patients can always choose to fill their prescriptions at any CVS Pharmacy, or the pharmacy of their choice, if another is more convenient," wrote CVS in a statement Monday.

As for the employees, CVS said all employees are being offered comparable roles within the company.
"Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions," wrote CVS.
"Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community."
There are 170 CVS Pharmacy sites in Connecticut, including more than 40 in Hartford County and three in Hartford after the closures become official, CVS said.
"We also offer several delivery options for customers and patients with eligible prescriptions, including 1-2-day delivery and on-demand (same-day) delivery (within three hours), through CVS.com and the CVS Pharmacy app," wrote CVS.
Officials said the two Hartford locations are the only CVS Pharmacy closures planned in Connecticut in 2025 "at this time."
