Massive Inferno Destroys Building In Hartford Tuesday: HFD
The early-morning fire leveled a structure in the city's Northeast neighborhood.
HARTFORD, CT — No injuries were reported early Tuesday morning after a vacant building was destroyed by fire in Hartford's Northeast neighborhood.
According to the Hartford Fire Department, crews were called to a structure fire at 258 Capen St.
"Crews arrived to find heavy fire consuming a vacant building located behind two occupied homes," wrote the HFD Tuesday morning, Sept. 2.

The HFD said downed, energized power lines near the structure delayed access, but firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines to protect the surrounding residences.
Firefighters were able to attack the fire from a nearby vacant lot on Enfield Street.

"Once Eversource arrived and secured the live wires, crews were able to gain full access and extinguish remaining hot spots," wrote the HFD. "The fire was brought fully under control shortly afterward."
The HFD said no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported, and the Hartford Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
