Motorcycle Club Leader From Hartford Sent To Prison For Dealing Drugs: Feds

The leader of the East Hartford-based motorcycle club was sentenced in federal court on Monday.

HARTFORD, CT — A 33-year-old Hartford man will spend the next few years behind bars for trafficking narcotics and cocaine.

David X. Sullivan, U.S. attorney for Connecticut, said Monday that Joshua Roman, 33, of Hartford, was sentenced by U.S. District Court in Bridgeport to six years of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release, for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in July 2022, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Hartford Task Force began investigating a large-scale drug trafficking organization distributing kilogram quantities of fentanyl and cocaine in Connecticut.

Sullivan said the investigation included court-authorized wiretaps, physical and electronic surveillance, controlled purchases of narcotics, and other investigative techniques.

He said a wiretap revealed that Roman, the president of the Loose Cannonz motorcycle club, was attempting to broker transactions of kilogram quantities of fentanyl and carfentanil.

The investigation further revealed Roman and his associates were receiving shipments of fentanyl and cocaine for distribution in the Hartford area, according to authorities.

On May 18, 2023, investigators made a controlled purchase of approximately 100 grams of fentanyl from Roman, Sullivan said.

Then, on June 7, 2023, Roman was arrested at a Hartford residence, and investigators seized approximately 50 grams of fentanyl from him, officials said.

On that date, a search of the Loose Cannonz clubhouse in East Hartford revealed an additional 50 grams of fentanyl.

On May 5, Roman pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

Roman, who is released on a $100,000 bond, is required to report to prison on Oct. 22.
