Popular Cookie Chain To Open Hartford Shop Saturday
The bakery, known for its warm cookies, operates sites at two major CT colleges, with Hartford's location becoming the third shop.

HARTFORD, CT — A beloved cookie chain founded in an Ivy League dormitory has grown into a national sensation popular with college kids.
And on Saturday, Jan. 4, the ever-expanding "Insomnia Cookies" will host a grand opening celebration in Connecticut's capital city.
Insomnia Cookies is opening its first location in Hartford at 247 Asylum St., Hartford.

"In celebration of the new store, on Saturday, Jan. 4, the late-night bakery will be holding an all-day in-store grand opening event and late-night celebration baked full of freebies, treats, and more," wrote Insomnia officials.
Based in Philadelphia, Pa., Insomnia's origins started in a Univerity of Pennsylvania dormitory in 2003 by Seth Berkowitz and Jared Barnett, students at the time.

The cookie bakery is known for fresh-baked (and warm) cookies that are also delivered (like a pizza).
It is also known for being open late into the night and early morning, making it a popular option for nighttime revelers craving cookies or those up late working/studying.
Insomnia's treats are especially popular on college campuses, with bakeries near Yale University and the University of Connecticut the other two Connecticut sites.
In Hartford, which boasts a sizable college student population in and of itself, Insomnia is looking to appeal to downtown visitors and residents alike as well.
It will become the 318th location nationwide.
Insomnia bakeries feature not only the traditional chocolate chip (or chunk, as they call it), but a wide variety of cookies, brownies, and blondies.
It, even, has vegan options for those on alternative diets.
Insomnia Cookies' hours in Hartford are: Sunday, noon to 1 a.m.; Monday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Tuesday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Wednesday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.; Friday, 111 a.m. to 3 a.m.; and Saturday, noon to 3 a.m.
Saturday's grand opening festivities will take place from noon to 3 a.m.
"Insomniacs," (as Insomnia likes to call its fans) who visit the new Hartford store and sign up for Insomnia Rewards will receive 1 free classic cookie (no purchase required) in-store.
Insomniacs can also earn free delivery with the code HARTFORD beginning Saturday, Jan. 4, to Jan. 18.
The new store will deliver to Insomniacs in Downtown Hartford and throughout surrounding neighborhoods.
