Scary Situation For 2 Hartford FD Firefighters During Thanksgiving Eve Blaze
An apartment building fire on Wednesday night displaced five residents in Hartford.
HARTFORD, CT — Two city firefighters had a frightening experience, and five residents were displaced after a three-alarm apartment building fire on Hudson Street in Hartford Wednesday night.
According to the Hartford Fire Department, a mayday alert was initially issued when two firefighters fell through the floor of the burning building.
The HFD said units responded to 419 Hudson St. at about 9:28 p.m. Wednesday night, Nov. 26.

"Crews arrived to a working fire, with heavy fire conditions on multiple floors of a mixed-use, multi-unit apartment building," wrote the HFD. "A mayday was declared after two firefighters fell through a floor, but it was quickly canceled."
The HFD said, ultimately, no injuries were reported, and one firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution. There were no civilian injuries.

The Hartford Fire Marshal is investigating the cause, and HFD's special services and the American Red Cross are assisting displaced residents.
Fire officials also expressed gratitude at mutual aid responders for assisting.
"Huge thanks to West Hartford FD and East Hartford FD for mutual aid, and CT Transit for providing warm buses for residents," wrote the HFD.
