2024 Middletown Election Guide: What Voters Need To Know

Everything voters need to know about Election Day in Middletown in 2024.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Election Day is upon us and Middletown residents will be casting their votes for several key federal and state positions, including President of The United States, U.S. senator, U.S. Representative, state representative and state senator.

At the top of the ballot, residents will be asked to vote on a referendum question that reads:

  • "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?"

  • "Shall the $10,000,000 appropriation and bond authorization for the planning, design, construction, and equipping of a new Public Safety 911 Center be approved?
  • "Shall the $48,900,000 appropriation and bond authorization for the renovation and extension of the Macdonough Elementary School be approved?"

  • Democratic: Kamala Harris and Tim Walz
  • Republican: Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance
  • Green Party: Jill Stein and Butch Ware
  • Libertarian: Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat
  • Petitioning Candidate: Robert Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan

For the U.S. Senate, the candidates are:

  • Democratic: Christopher S. Murphy (Murphy is also endorsed by the Working Families Party)
  • Republican: Matthew M. Corey
  • Green Party: Justin C. Paglino
  • Cheaper Gas Groceries Party: Robert Finley Hyde

For the U.S. House, the candidates are:
Voting Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7; House 1st

  • Democratic: John B. Larson
  • Republican: Jim Griffin
  • Working Families: Mary L. Sanders

Voting Districts 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12; 3rd House

  • Democratic: Rosa DeLauro
  • Republican: Michael Massey

For state representative, the candidates are:

  • Democratic: Kai Juanna Belton
  • Republican: Nigel Macon-Wilson

Voting Districts 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; 33rd House

  • Democratic: Brandon Chafee
  • Republican: No candidate
  • We The People Party: Robert Kyle Hoggard
  • Petitioning Candidate: Christine Leigh Rebstock

For state senate, the candidates are:
Voting Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12; 9th Senate

  • Democratic: Matthew Lesser
  • Republican: No candidate

Voting Districts 4, 6, 9, 11; 13th Senate

  • Democrat: Jan Hochadel
  • Republican: Elain Cariati
  • Independent Party: Gwen Samuel

Voting Details

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration.
