The public is invited to a forum, “Hot Topics in Higher Education” on Thursday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m., when the Greater Middletown branch of the American Association of University Women will bring a 3-member panel to lead the discussion. It will be held at the WaschCenter, 51 Lawn Ave., adjoining the Wesleyan University campus, in Middletown.
Panelists are Sousan Arafeh, Ph.D., Sonia Manjon, Ph.D., and Anna Wasescha, Ph.D.
Panelist Sousan Arafeh, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department, Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Recently she has also been the Consultant for the P-20 Council of Connecticut’s Board of Regents for Higher Education. Prior to SCSU she served as Deputy Director of the National Center for Technology Innovation.
Another panelist is Sonia Manjon, Ph.D., Wesleyan University’s Vice President for Institutional Partnerships and Chief Diversity Officer which oversees the Office of the Dean for Diversity and Student Engagement. Prior to coming to Middletown she was the Executive Director of the Center for Art and Public Life, California College of the Arts.
Panelist Anna Wasescha, Ph.D., is President of Middlesex Community College in Middletown. Prior to assuming her position in June of 2011 she was Provost and Special Assistant to the President of Minnesota State Community College, Fergus Falls, Minnesota. On April 24, 2012, she was officially inaugurated the Sixth President of Middlesex Community College.
