FY 26, 27 State Grants Proposed For Middletown: By The Numbers

MIDDLETOWN, CT — State grants for Middletown are projected to jump as part of the next state budget.

Gov. Ned Lamont Wednesday unveiled his $55.2 billion biennial budget plan, and the state Office of Policy and Management has broken down what the proposal could mean for each Connecticut municipality.

Overall, the spending plan would increase spending by roughly $1 billion each year. Under the plan, the budget would rise to about $27 billion in the next fiscal year, then to about $28.2 billion the following year.

The municipal-specific grant package that reimburses communities for a portion of the revenue they lose from tax-exempt properties would continue to grow as planned. The total figures include motor vehicle tax reimbursement, the Local Capital Improvement Plan grant, the payment in lieu of taxes grant, municipal grants-in-aid, the supplemental revenue sharing grant, the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan fund grant, the Town Aid Road grant, the all-important Education Cost Sharing outlay and adult education.
