Middletown High Student Returns From U.S. Space & Rocket Center Leadership Camp
Emily Imbruglio of Portland has just returned from an international program in Alabama that allowed her to become an astronaut for two weeks.
Emily Imbruglio of Portand, a Middletown High School student, has been awarded a special scholarship to do intensive astronaut training, among many other amazing things.
She just returned last week and is among 227 students from 30 countries and 26 U.S. states and territories chosen to attend 2013 Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala., from Feb. 23 to March 9.
The international program is designed to build their leadership skills and to inspire the next generation of students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

HLCA includes shuttle missions, weightlessness training, simulated jet-fighter pilot training, scenario-based space-walking missions, designing, building and testing their own rockets and meeting with top scientists, engineers and former astronauts to reinforce core leadership competencies and provide them with first-hand accounts of remarkable professional experiences.
