Mercy HS Athletes Win State Titles At CIAC Indoor Track Championships

NEW HAVEN, CT — A runner from Mercy High School in Middletown won two individual events and a relay team also brought home a state title for the Tigers at the CIAC Class M indoor track and field championships Thursday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Junior Sarah Roberts won the 600 meter run with a time of 1:37.40, then captured the 3,200 meter run crown in 11:30.60. The 4 x 800 relay team of Kayla Johnson, Beatrice Perrault, Heather Meisinger and Calista Nephew also emerged victorious, covering the distance in 10:05.05.

The Tigers compiled 35 points to place third of 29 teams which scored points. Hillhouse had 45 points to win the team championship for the third straight year.
