Middletown Fire on Scene of Two-Car Crash on Busy Route 66

Route 66 is closed down at Main Street while firefighters and police investigate.

Middletown Police and Fire are on the scene of a two-car crash on busy Route 66 in Middletown which took place some time after 5:45 p.m. Friday.

The accident, which involves a Kia and a Mazda, is causing backups as Pearl Street at Washington Street is closed and Washington all the way to Main Street.

Reader Ian Battles sent us this video of the scene.

Resident Ed McKeon tells Middletown Patch, "the driver of one car was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Passenger in the same car seemed okay. Driver of the other car was on her feet and talking to police."

Police had cleared the scene within an hour.
