Middletown Housing Authority Getting $291,000 Grant

The funding, however, is about $100,000 less than what the city usually gets from federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development will be giving a $291,069 grant to Middletown that will assist local residents who rely on public housing.

But, as The Middletown Press reported, the HUD money — which is part of a $20.5 million round of grant funding — is a bit lower than previous years. The Middletown Housing Authority, which administers the money, usually gets about $100,000 more than that, officials told The Press.

The newspaper noted that this comes about four months after the federal sequestration forced cuts to Section 8 vouchers, impacting the local authority's funding.
