A Rare Change At The Top Of High School Wrestling Poll
For the first time in more than half a decade, Danbury is not ranked as the top wrestling team in Connecticut this week.
CONNECTICUT — For the past six years, the weekly Connecticut high school wrestling poll has always featured Danbury as the leading vote-getter. However, that has changed, as a 44-19 loss to Xavier propelled the Falcons into the top spot.
Xavier received all 15 first-place votes to become the first school other than Danbury to occupy the pole position since 2015. The Hatters finished second in the weekly balloting of coaches and media members, followed by Fairfield Warde.
Here are the top 10, with last week's ranking in parentheses, as well as all other programs collecting votes.
