Former Wesleyan Student Pleads Guilty in Molly Overdose Case
A former Wesleyan student was arrested after alleged involvement with a string of Molly overdoses on campus.

In February 2015, 11 people were hospitalized after overdosing on the drug Molly at Wesleyan University of Middletown.
Police believed that those who overdosed consumed a bad batch of MDMA, also known as Molly, on Feb. 22.
MDMA or Molly, causes “increased energy, euphoria, emotional warmth and empathy toward others, and distortions in sensory and time perception,” according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

“This particular batch may have had a mixture of several kinds of designer drug chemicals, making the health risks unpredictable and treatment to combat the effects, complex and problematic,” said Police Chief William McKenna in February 2015.
Zachary Kramer, 21, of Bethesda Md. was arrested in February and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a regulated substance and possession of less than .5 ounce of marijuana.

According to the Middletown Press, Kramer was on track to take a plea deal in the case.
In an update to the court case, Kramer pleaded guilty so a charge pertaining to alleged distribution near a private college could be dropped, NBC Connecticut reported.
The charge he pleaded guilty to was one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
