What Would You Build in Middletown?

Middletown,CT - Earlier this week, Middletown Patch asked our Facebook readers what they would build or fix in town if they were given $1 million.

Readers from across the area responded with answers varying from new playgrounds, renovated high schools and improved hospitals.

Also early this week, U.S. News and World Report released its list of the Top 10 Children’s Hospitals Across the Country. The hospitals were ranked in terms of “clinical outcomes,” “efficient coordination of care,” and “care-related resources.”

The publication periodically releases lists regarding the best schools in the country as well as most livable cities. Many of the things that make a town or city ‘livable’ are resources and public spaces i.e. good schools, roads, parks, libraries, etc. Not surprisingly, these were many of the things readers said they would build or fix in their town if granted $1 million to do so.

Here’s what your neighbors said they would build in Middletown:

• "A dog park to start with, also a nice field I can fly or use my RC's at. Finally bring/continue the airline trail to Middletown."
• "I'd donate much of it to Middletown Animal Control for their own shelter facility and to get our ACO's some extra help. They work really hard for our pets and local wildlfe and they surely deserve it."
• "I'd like to see at least one of the empty buildings on CVH property turned into housing for homeless people. If there's any left over, I'd get Washington Street repaved. What a mess."
• "All new roads in Middletown (Washingtion Street). New homes at less than 100,000 and a park with 2 pools for kids and adults, and the park will have a skate park, basketball, and tennis. Kids' park with swings, slide and grass...also fields in the park for baseball all free to the town!"
