'Heavy Fire' Damages Apartment Units In Milford, Fire Officials Say
Three cats were rescued by firefighters.

MILFORD, CT — The fire department battled a fire Saturday morning and rescued three cats, officials said.
At 9:13 a.m. fire crews responded to a reported porch fire at 164 Harrison Ave. On arrival, crews found "heavy fire" on the front porch of a 2-story wood frame residential apartment building with two apartments involved, officials said.
Everyone exited the building safely. Three cats were unaccounted for but were safely found and removed from the structure by Fire Department personnel, officials said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. American Red Cross responded and mutual aid company's from Stratford and West Shore covered Milford Fire Stations in the event of other emergencies, officials added.
