Milford FD "Above Criteria" For Recognizing Heart Attack Signs
The fast recognition of a heart attack allows quick life-saving actions to help patients, Assistant Chief Christopher Waiksnoris said.

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Fire Department is above the criteria set by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology for recognizing the signs of a heart attack and the live-saving actions to help patients, according to Assistant Chief Christopher Waiksnoris.
On Oct. 17, Waiksnoris spoke on a report the Milford Fire Department had received from Bridgeport Hospital.
Waiksnoris said that staff can assess and recognize the signs of a suspected heart attack within two minutes. He also noted paramedics Matthew Schumann, Kristin Stuart, Tom Hope and their crew’s response time.

“The report speaks volumes about how much of an impact the members have on the community and the citizens that they serve and protect,” Waiksnoris told the Fire Department Commission.
Commissioner Peter Smith said the numbers are stunning, and Milford has a first-class EMS division. He also stated he observed calls, and the cooperation within the department is phenomenal.
