Milford FD Warns Of Imposter 'Inspector' Scamming Businesses

The imposter pretends to inspect businesses and demands payment on the spot, the fire department said.

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Fire Department warned the community about an imposter inspector who is charging businesses for bogus services.

The imposter identifies themselves as a fire extinguisher technician or life safety technician who has been contracted by the department to perform an inspection. The imposter then performs a quick "inspection" and informs an employee that the cost of inspection is due directly. Some employees have fallen from the scam and given the imposter money.

The Milford Fire Department doesn't subcontract anyone to perform inspections and encourages anyone who runs into a similar situation to contact 911.
