MILFORD — A warm May day has contributed to increased attendance at state parks, with one in Milford having to close early due to full capacity.

According to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Silver Sands State Park, located off 1 Silver Sands Parkway, experienced high crowd volumes, resulting in the park's parking lot being full to capacity.

DEEP announced the closure via Twitter at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

When this happens, state officials regularly have to close parks to newcomers because of park and parking lot capacity being met.
