ID Released After Milford Man Dies In Crash On Route 1: UPDATE

An ID has been released by police.

MILFORD, CT — A moped rider died from injuries sustained in a crash with a motor vehicle on Route 1 near Locust Street Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

On Tuesday, police announced on social media that the Boston Post Road was closed near Locust Street for a motor vehicle crash. People were urged to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

"A preliminary investigation reveals that CT registration AW76071 was traveling east on Boston Post Rd when it was struck by an Asceno R2/50 moped," police said in a news release. "The operator of the moped was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the moped was identified as Brian McGrory, 65, of Milford."
