MILFORD, CT — As the 2023 municipal elections get closer in Milford, there are plenty of races with candidates who are eager to serve in elected office.

Michael S. Casey, 47, is running for a seat on the Board of Aldermen in Milford to represent the 3rd District as a Republican candidate.

What is your occupation?
Attorney
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
I have a lovely wife, Renee Casey, and an amazing five year old son, Stephen.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
I don't have family in government.
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
Board of Aldermen, 2013-2017, 2020-present; Planning & Zoning 2011-2013; Zoning Board of Appeals 2018-2020
Why are you seeking this office?
I want to help people and serve the people of Milford.

public safety. I will continue to fully fund the police and fire departments. People should feel safe and secure in their communities, so I will remain steadfast in fostering better morale for our police and fire officials and be responsive to residents to ensure that they feel protected.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Experience. I have been an aldermen six years. I served on Milford's zoning boards. I appreciate the issues.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
I am an incumbent.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Property taxes and education. We need to hold the line on taxes without sacrificing services. We should develop long term planning for our education.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I voted for additional police officers and fund the fire department when I saw there was a need. I supported fully funding the education budget.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
You can make a positive difference in your community. Milford has great people and people will support you and help you.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am very proud to represent the people of Milford.
