MILFORD, CT — A bar and restaurant has faced numerous challenges and is asking for the community's support.

The Hair of the Dog, at 128 Bridgeport Ave. in Devon, had a burst pipe that shut down its dining room for three months. They're waiting for insurance while trying to stay afloat and extend their hours and menu.

"Not asking for charity, just your support whether it's picking up breakfast for the office, suggesting us for happy hour, ordering GrubHub or just sharing a post," the establishment shared on Facebook. "Being open in today's world ain't cheap."

The Hair of the Dog serves Scarpiello wings, which topped Wingaddicts list of the best in the state, according to the establishment's website.

They also offer award-winning bloody Marys and mimosas at brunch every Saturday and Sunday.

Hair of the Dog also has plenty of events including weekly karaoke, car nights, and ladies' night.

"Please support the neighborhood bar that's in your neighborhood," the owner wrote. "I'm way more fun and creative when I'm not worrying about payroll. Thank you in advance."

Sandra DeRosa-Briggs, of Milford, started the business in November 2020. She had been working in the restaurant and bar business for 35 years. She had never wanted to own her own place until she was let go from her job, "a moment that could have been devastating."

"But instead of giving up, Sandra decided to take control of her future," the website reads.

DeRosa-Briggs sought to create "a lively, welcoming environment where customers feel at home." This comes in the form of the music choices, creative menu item names, and fun decor.
