MILFORD, CT — Cookie39 has opened a new location in Milford at the site of a well-known former business, according to the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed the new sweet shop to the city at its 499 New Haven Ave. location. The site is the former home of Sundae House, which was in business for over 60 years.

Cookie39 first opened its doors in New Haven.

Founded by owner David Powell, Cookie39 is built on the “Three C’s,” which include coffee, cookies, and creamery, offering guests a wide selection of fresh-baked cookies, handcrafted beverages, and ice cream, according to a statement from the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Each cookie is "made daily using all-natural ingredients with no preservatives, ensuring customers enjoy both quality and flavor."

Powell, a Milford native, "emphasized the importance of giving back to his hometown by creating a space where friends, families, and neighbors can gather and enjoy sweet treats together," the statement reads. "He wanted to keep the tradition of Sundae House, the original owner of that property, by including ice cream on his menu."

The current Milford location is in a trailer at the site's parking lot, but there are plans to set up a permanent location.
