Van Caches Fire Inside Storage Building: Milford Fire Dept.

MILFORD, CT — A passenger-style van caught fire inside a one-story non-combustible commercial structure Wednesday afternoon, Adam Hansen, Milford Fire Department PIO, said.
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, around 5:58 p.m., fire personnel were dispatched to a fire alarm/water flow alarm at 270 Rowe Ave., Hansen said.
When companies arrived on the scene, they found smoke showing from a one-story, non-combustible building, Hansen said.

A working fire was called, and fire personnel stretched a 2 ½” handline and forced multiple doors open to make access into the building, Hansen said.
Fire personnel were presented with zero visibility and were able to locate and knock down the bulk of the fire, a passenger-style van, Hansen said.

Companies checked for extension, but the quick knockdown of the fire yielded minor extension into the structure, Hansen said.
Three handlines were placed into operation, and two water supplies off the hydrants were established. A total of 1,700 feet of large diameter hose (LDH) was laid into the street from the fire hydrants to the fire, Hansen said.
The fire is under investigation, Hansen said.
