William “Bill” J. Winter, 89 of Milford, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025 in Milford, CT. Bill was born on February 13, 1936 in Queens, NY to the late William and Herta Winter.

Bill was a mechanical engineer for over 30 years, building a respected career that began with work at established engineering firms before eventually becoming self-employed. He took great pride in his work and was especially proud of his accomplishments as an inventor, earning a total of seven patents: five through his professional engineering work and two through independent endeavors. A natural problem-solver and hobby inventor, Bill was endlessly curious about how things worked, often taking objects apart simply to understand them and carefully putting them back together again and found great enjoyment in home improvement projects.
